Plans are underway to celebrate the completion of the Streetscape Project as of June 1, 2009. All drivers, bicyclists and walkers are invited!!!
The Civic Improvement Association invites all residents of LaVale to attend a Streetscape Grand Celebration on Saturday, June 6, from 6-9 p.m. Persons are invited to walk some or all of the Streetscape, greeting LaVale neighbors and enjoying the beauty and usefulness of the project.
The Library will host an opportunity to recognize and thank all the persons who made this possible: State Highway Administration, State Legislators, County Commissioners, LaVale Sanitary Commission, and others.
At the Library will be Louis Paul offering his special balloons to the children, and Al Feldstein showing pictures of the National Highway in LaVale, and a videotape of the highway made a generation ago.
The LaVale Methodist Church and the LaVale Baptist Church at the ends of the Streetscape will be offering parking and food vendors will be located here.
Offices, agencies, and buinesses along the Streetscape route have been invited to participate in the event, by staying open, providing activities for the children & adults, or providing door prizes.
At each church child participants will receive a passport to be stamped at various locations along the way, plus a balloon to identify them as Streetscape travelers. Other activities will be announced as plans are completed.
Schedule: General Activities 6 - 9 p.m.
Ceremony at the Library 7:30 p.m.
Louis Paul & balloons at Library 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Door prize drawing at the Library 8:30 p.m
